HCC's founder, Seth Walchand Hirachand, laid the foundation for excellence over 8 decades ago. He was a visionary who cared deeply about helping society, and used his resources to make a difference to the lives of others. He would always be amongst the first to extend a helping hand -whether it was for a charitable cause, or disaster relief in case of a natural calamity.
Charity, in Mr. Walchand's words, must change its form to match the country's changing requirements.
Today, at HCC, we aim to keep that philosophy alive, every single day. We know that
with leadership, comes responsibility. We believe in going beyond the business and fulfilling our duties as a responsible corporate citizen. To that end, we have always worked towards improving the quality of life of the communities we serve. Be it within the organisation, the industry, or society, we have a strong sense of social responsibility, which is reflected in our values and actions. Our company's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) came into existence with the objective to identify and work closely with key communities in which it operates and to undertake practices as a responsible corporate citizen to support and strengthen such groups and fulfill its obligation to society.
HCC uses its strength for broader social goals and to demonstrate environmental responsibility, high standards of ethical behavior and greater transparency and accountability.
Being a socially responsible organization involves being more aware about issues that will make a difference. The CSR wing at HCC has been able to translate this underlying principal into action and continues to contribute towards the organization and society at large.
